Sarah grew up in country Queensland and from a young age cared for her mother who had severe rheumatoid arthritis. Her mother really wanted to care for herself and her family, work and still do leisure activities but at times was confined to a wheelchair and unable to do basic tasks. She therefore started looking for careers where she could help people be independent and do the tasks that were important for them.
Sarah studied Occupational Therapy at Charles Sturt University in Albury, NSW then began as an Occupational Therapist with children at the Geraldton hospital in 2001. Sarah’s passion is helping children participate in leisure activities. Through this, she has taught children with special needs to swim, worked on school holiday camps and been involved in helping children get funding for equipment such as modified bikes. Sarah believes all children should be able to have fun and play and helps families and children achieve this.
